On Nov. 27, the legendary folk/ country singer, Willie Nelson, was arrested for the possession of marijuana in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Nelson admitted that the pot was his when the agents at a boarder patrol checkpoint had found the six ounces of pot on his tour bus. Nelson was arrested and freed from the local Hudspeth County jail after posting a $2,500 bond. Nelson was reportedly in a good mood when released, and when asked how he was feeling after his arrest he stated, “I feel great, I just lost six ounces.”
Although we never like to hear that a legendary artist has been arrested, are we really surprised about this? Nelson has long been known for his avocation for the legalization of marijuana. Nelson’s publicist had no comment on the matter that had occurred, but could this lead to bad public relations for the well known Willie Nelson?
Nelson himself is 77 and his band members are in their mid sixties. He has been in the music industry for quite some time. If you consider the fact that he is a music legend and has a very stable fan base, it is doubtful that this indiscretion will hinder Nelson’s career. He is famous partial for his known support of marijuana. Most people would assume that Nelson is not only frequently in possession of pot, but also under the influence of it.
In my opinion, this will not have a negative effect on the perception people have on Willie Nelson; in many ways this could increase his popularity.
This is so funny. I’m not surprised at all. It’s e expected from that singer. I agree it will have no effect on his career. It might even boost it.
I didn’t even know about this until just about and hour ago I was on facebook and someones status was about his arrest. I do not think it will do any thing negative for the singer. Like you said he is known to be usually under the influence and of course he is going to have it on him. I can think of plenty of songs that he blunty talks about getting high. So its a bummer that he got arrested but im sure hes doing it right now.

“As a frequent news reader, I did not even hear about this. So, maybe it really isn’t news or even that surprising to the public. I agree, this will not hurt his career. Lil Wayne, another music artist who is in his peak, was just released from jail on charges of possession with marijuana. When he came out, he had a new album released and it is selling like crazy. You look at the NFL and there are players who have committed murder, been convicted of rape and have even hurt animals, and people are still wearing their jersey. Nelson is safe in my eyes and his popularity will not dwindle away.
I not only herd this on the radio, but also the TV and on Yahoo news. I personal thought that the hole thing is a little stupid. Ol’ Willy has been around for decades and ever since i can remember he’s been smoking the herbs. Like you said, are we really surprised about this? No one saw this a being serious.. He’s just a old man that likes to smoke a little lot of cannabis. The cops should just leave his alone, and worry more about all the illegals.

i also agree with you i dont think this will hurt him in anyway. He has always been known as a hard musician. In the fact that he does do drugs and has been known to them for quit sometime. He has been in this business for along time and i think it would take alot for him to lose fans. People see him for what he has always been and they still have always liked hime so i dont think this is really anything that is going to suprise people.
